January 2013 Meeting Reminder and Note from Norma

Hello and Happy New Year to Each of You!

It’s that time of the year again- calendar time after the holidays!

  • I would like to remind you that the EGC Board will not be meeting before the Monday, January 7th General meeting as indicated in the directory.

  • Our next board meeting will be Tuesday, January 29th at 10:00 at the Elmhurst Public Library (Please note this meeting date was accidently omitted in the directory.)

  • At the scheduled January 7th general meeting, the eulogy for Vi Dawson  we will be immediately after lunch is served.  A number of Vi’s family members have indicated they will be in attendance.  We will reserve a table for them.   We have also extended an invitation to the members of Treetown Garden Club who knew Vi to join us for lunch and the eulogy.  Please, join me in welcoming our guests.

In addition, at the January 7th meeting, the following specific activities are planned that I would like to remind you of:
·
  1. Election of the 2013-2114 officers and committee chairs (slate approved at December board meeting.)
  2. Presentations by  recent scholarship recipients.

The program indicated in the directory for January has been re-scheduled for our February meeting.

Then one more date for you while you have your calendars out…..

  • The club’s annual book discussion will be Thursday, January 17th at 10:00AM at Marilyn Arado’s home. The book to be discussed is “One Writer’s Garden Endora Welty’s Home Place” by Susan Halton and Jane Ray.  If you have a chance between now and the 17th pick the book up, you will enjoy the read!  If you have not read the book, I think you will find the discussion interesting and informative and hope you can come.

I am looking  forward to seeing everyone on Monday, January 7 at our first meeting of 2013 as well as  the other Elmhurst Garden Club activities planned for the year.

My best to each of you in the year ahead!
Norma
